Child Therapy
Do you notice that your child has been acting differently? Perhaps having more angry outbursts or avoiding activities they used to enjoy. Are you worried about their emotional well being? I understand how overwhelming and difficult it can be mange challenging behaviors; to want to understand and help your child thrive but not know what else to do. It can be frustrating both for you and your child to not feel heard or understood. This can also have a greater impact on your family that can make day to day activities difficult.
Wether the behavior is stemming from their social, educational or home environment each aspect of a child's life can be greatly impacted. Often times children make meaning of the world around them by exploring and reacting. In these reactions is when we often can observe how your child might be feeling about their world and themselves. Each child is unique and has individual needs. There are many factors that impact children, making them the most vulnerable and receptive to their outside environments. Yet they often have no words to express what they are experiencing.
Through my years of experience working with a wide range of children of different ages and challenges I developed a comprehensive approach that creates safety and trust. By integrating different evidence based modalities such as: art, play, and Sand Tray therapies children can explore, process and express how they feel. These different methods provide alternatives to talk therapy and allow them to also learn to identify and understand their feelings. Through therapy children will also be able to better cope with life stressors, improve their relationships, reduce negative reactions and learn to regulate their emotions.
Additionally, I also support parents and incorporate them in every step of the way. This can improve your understanding and connection with your child. Through our work together you will learn to implement the techniques at home that will reinforce our work in therapy and improve your family interactions and school behavior. You know your child best, and my hope is that together we can take an active role in helping your child flourish and establish healthy life long changes.
